Now in its sixth year, the 2011 Winter Music Series presented by Glen Eira City Council continues to deliver something for everyone with a diverse range of musical acts to warm the cold winter days.
Join My Social Circle as we get down and get funky to the groovy sound of local band Sugarbeat
Sugarbeat perform their own brand of soul and funk infused music and the more obscure and classic funk/soul tracks of the past, from Motown to Stax. Collectively the members of Sugarbeat have played and recorded with some of the world’s greatest musicians including Stevie Wonder, Kate Ceberano, Paul Kelly, Men at Work, James Morrison, Vince Jones and Jimmy Cobb, just to name a few.
With Influences from Motown and jazz artists, including Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, Duke Ellington and Charlie Parker, Sugarbeat are uniquely, Australian soul Junksters, smooth and cool with fat sounding horns. Their performances explore a range of emotions and sounds, distilled through the musicians’ hearts and minds, taking you on a journey of 70s funk classics to modern and original soul. An explosion of grooves!
Concerts take place in Town Hall’s cosy theatrette, so warm your soul this winter at one of Glen Eira’s longest established and most popular musical events. The show runs from 2.30–4.30pm and includes an interval.
As these concerts are very popular and often sell out, you are advised to book early to avoid missing out.
Look for Kerrie-Anne at the entrance to collect your ticket.
As an added bonus, if you are a public transport user, present your valid Metcard or Myki at the event to receive a complimentary glass of wine (ID required) or soft drink!
