Like travelling? Well you can go around the world to places you miss or have never been to, experience the fantastic cuisine and culture, and you can do it all right here in Melbourne!
This month, we're off to explore the flavours of Turkey at recently opened Turkish restaurant, United Arab Eatery.
Billed as a Middle Eastern salad bar, the fare is influenced by Lebanese, Syrian and Moroccan cooking techniques and flavours.
The menu is modest but bountiful, revolving around a what-you-see-is-what-you-get principle where what you see is a cabinet full of quinoa tabouleh, mujadarra, meats, pickles, olives, grains and then some. And what you get is a platter (meat or veg / medium or large) overflowing with all of the above.
Plates also include fresh house-made flat bread, grains, dips (babaganoush will be the staple, but a dip of beetroot or carrot will also make an appearance here and there), olives, feta and pickled vegetables.
There are also a handful of other options, such as UAE falafel, lamb pizza with rocket and yoghurt, and za’atar pizza with tomato and green olives.
