No matter how large your television screen, you can't beat the experience of actually going to the movies, but if you're looking for the latest must-do cinema experience, then you can't miss this Outside-in Cinema screening of Beats, rhymes & life: travels of A Tribe Called Quest at the State Library of Victoria's Experimedia.

Ground-breaking hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest is one of the most commercially successful and artistically significant musical groups in recent history. The band’s sudden break-up in 1998 shocked the industry and saddened fans, whose appetite for the group’s innovative musical stylings never seems to diminish.

Beats, rhymes & life examines the group’s genesis and its lasting influence on hip-hop, as well as the infighting and jealousies that led to its demise.

The film includes interviews with the Beastie Boys, Pharrell Williams, Mos Def, Santigold, Monie Love, Pete Rock, Large Professor, De La Soul, The Jungle Brothers, Mary J Blige and Common.

So come out for a great night in! Bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, relax in a deckchair and enjoy the show. Meet your host outside the library entrance to collect your ticket.

For those who enjoy the whole dinner and a movie experience, we can grab a quick and easy meal at one of the surrounding restaurants after the movie - all food and drinks at own expense.
