Experience contemporary dance with cinematic animation and 3D stereoscopic illusions as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival.
The
Melbourne Fringe Festival is an annual independent arts festival representing the culmination of efforts by thousands of artists from Melbourne and beyond. The festival presents work across performance, comedy, cabaret, music, dance, live art, visual art, design, digital media and more.
Parallax is a live contemporary dance and animation performance set within a virtual 3D environment. A
parallax is when you view something from different angles. Technology impacts on all our lives and we are often asked to move between the virtual and real. This performance explores the link between the body and technology, blurring the boundaries between the real and virtual, performer and audience, and time and space.
Presented by choreographer and animator
Megan Beckwith and electroacoustic sound artist Jacques Soddell (once a microbiologist), the show takes the dancer and audience through virtual spaces, environments, rooms and landscapes with 3D stereoscopic props that become dance partners.
Join us at
Junction Beer Hall & Wine Room for a bite to eat and/or a few drinks before we make our way over to the
Substation dungeon for the performance.
One half of the Junction is a beer hall, the other is a sanctuary for wine buffs - either way, there's something on the
menu for every one! 3D glasses provided at the door. All food and drinks at own expense. Performance starts at 8.30pm.
