It’s not every day that by merely dining out you get to give something back, but Scarf Community Dinners do just that, so join us for a feel-good, two-course meal at Carlton’s
Markov restaurant with
Kerala in charge of the kitchen.
Scarf is a social initiative that provides hospitality training for disadvantaged youth, taking place in various Melbourne restaurants. Together with their mentors, Scarf trainees can put their front-of-house training into practice. Not only do they gain professional experience and assistance from some great industry professionals, but they also get paid for their work too.
Tonight's dinner sees Scarf team up with Kerala chefs who have put together a fabulous two-course set menu inspired by the traditions of South India. To start with, be tempted with spiced pulled pork on betel leaf and roasted cauliflower and eggplant bahji. Main course offers a choice of Keralan fish curry, braised beef cheek or a vegetarian thali all for the paltry sum of $35 - sounds like a win-win for all involved to us!
Oh, and if you’re not quite full after two courses, rest assured there will be some sweet delights on offer (at additional cost), like ginger and buttermilk panna cotta with chilli chocolate and biscuit crumbs. There’ll also be an incredible house-made icecream and an accompanying wine list to wash it all down.
Look for your host at the reserved table. Please try to arrive on time as seating times are set. Price includes shared entree and main meal, all other food and drinks at own expense.
