Do you consider yourself a bit of a beer connoisseur? Do you want to try some unique craft beers to see what all the fuss is about?

If you said yes to one, or both of those questions, then get ready to tantalise your taste buds at the 2014 Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS).

Once again, the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton will be transformed into a gigantic European-style craft beer hall with hundreds of tables and benches and four container bars serving up new craft beers brewed by Australia, New Zealand, Japan, USA, Norway, Denmark and UK breweries. There is also Cider and wine on offer for those not so accustomed to beer, but wanting to be part of the fun.

One of the unique highlights of GABS are the Festival Beers where breweries celebrate innovation and originality by brewing a special new beer just for the festival. This year there are some 120+ beers including unique ingredients such as peanut butter, rice, spiced rocket leaves, blueberries, apricots and toasted coconut. Other highlights include:
Look for your host at the venue entrance.  Tickets can be purchased online or at the door (we recommend purchasing at the door to save on booking fees) and include the GABS Official Guide and Matilda Bay GABS glass, and the new GABS Craft Beer Passport with $360 worth of discounts at leading beer bars, beer stores and brewery cellar doors. Tokens for beer/cider tasting and food are extra.

More about tokens:
  • GABS uses a token system for all beer and food purchases
  • Each token is worth $2 and tokens can be purchased individually at the venue or as part of your ticket
  • Any leftover tokens are not refundable.
